Dealing Pro-Actively
with Verbal Abuse
Slide #1: Verbal abuse
is any demeaning, threatening, or profane words intended to harm, shame
or control you.
Slide #2: Verbal abuse has no place in a healthy and loving marriage.
Slide #3: Confront it early on in marriage or it will grow progressively
worse.
Slide #4: Explain to your spouse it is unacceptable and you won’t
tolerate it.
Slide #5: If the verbal abuse continues seek Christian counseling immediately.
Slide #6: Remember it stems from the sin and pain in your spouse’s
heart (not your behavior or inadequacies).
Slide #7: If your spouse won’t seek counseling it may be necessary
to separate until progress occurs.
Slide #8: We sometime must risk losing our marriage in order to save
it.
Slide #9: “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouth,
but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs…” Ephesians
4:29
