Psalm 146
The Lord - Our Helper
1Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul!
2I will praise the Lord as long as I live. I will sing praises to my God as long as I live.

3Do not put your trust in princes, in a son of a man, who cannot save us.

4When his spirit leaves, he returns to the earth. His thoughts end on that day.

5Happy is he whose help is the God of Jacob, and whose hope is in the Lord his God.

6The Lord made heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them. He is faithful forever.

7He helps those who have a bad power over them. He gives food to the hungry. And He sets those in prison free.

8The Lord opens the eyes of the blind. The Lord raises up those who are brought down. The Lord loves those who are right and good.

9The Lord keeps the strangers safe. He takes care of the children who have no father and the woman whose husband has died. But He destroys the way of the sinful.

10The Lord will rule forever. Your God, O Zion, will rule over all people for all time. Praise the Lord!

Psalm 147
Praise For God's Goodness
1Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God. For it is pleasing and praise is right.
2The Lord builds up Jerusalem. He gathers those of Israel who had been taken away.

3He heals those who have a broken heart. He heals their sorrows.

4He knows the number of the stars. He gives names to all of them.

5Great is our Lord, and great in power. His understanding has no end.

6The Lord lifts up those who are suffering, and He brings the sinful down to the ground.

7Sing to the Lord with thanks. Sing praises to our God on the harp.

8He covers the heavens with clouds. He gives rain for the earth. He makes grass grow on the mountains.

9He gives food to the animals, and to the young ravens that cry.

10His joy is not in the strength of a horse. He does not find joy in the legs of a man.

11But the Lord favors those who fear Him and those who wait for His loving.

12Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion!

13For He has made your gates strong. He has made good come to your children within you.

14He makes peace within your walls. He fills you with the best grain.

15He sends His Word to the earth. And His Word runs fast.

16He gives snow like wool. He spreads ice like ashes.

17He throws down His ice as hail stones. Who can stand before His cold?

18He sends out His Word and melts them. He makes His wind blow and the waters flow.

19He speaks His Word to Jacob, and His Law to Israel.

20He has not done this with any other nation. They do not know His Law. Praise the Lord!

Psalm 148
The Whole World Should Praise The Lord

3Praise Him, sun and moon! Praise Him, all you shining stars!

4Praise Him, you highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens!

5Let them praise the name of the Lord! For He spoke and they came into being.

6He has made them last forever and ever. He has set a Law which will not pass away.

7Praise the Lord from the earth, you large sea animals and all seas,

8fire and hail, snow and clouds, and wind storms, obeying His Word.

9Praise the Lord, you mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all tall trees,

10wild animals and all cattle, small animals that move on the ground and birds that fly,

11kings of the earth and all people, princes and all leaders of the earth, both young men and women who have never had men, and old men and children.

13Let them praise the name of the Lord. For His name alone is honored. His shining-greatness is above earth and heaven.

14He has raised up a horn for His people, praise for all who belong to Him, for the people of Israel, who are near to Him. Praise the Lord!

2Let Israel be glad in his Maker. Let the sons of Zion be full of joy in their

5Let those who are God be full of joy and honor. Let them sing for joy on their beds.

6Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and in their hand a sword that cuts both ways.

7Let it be used to punish the nations and the people.

8Let their kings be tied in chains, and their rulers with ropes of iron.

9Let the punishment that is written be given to them. This is an honor for all His faithful ones. Praise the Lord!
