Dear Friend,

If ever there was a time for God’s people to become a “praying people,” it’s now.

In this new year -- with the changes occurring in Washington -- with the dangers before us at home and abroad -- it’s absolutely essential that Christians employ the “power of prayer.”

  • “...Pray for each other so that you may be healed,” James 5:16 declares. “The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.”
  • It’s been this way since Old Testament times. “...Those that wait upon the Lord,” Psalm 37:9 says, “they shall inherit the earth.”
  • Prayer is an essential ingredient of the Christian life. In Luke 18:1, Jesus taught His disciples that they “should always pray and not give up.” “Pray always,” He said in Luke 21:36.
  • The apostle Paul echoed the theme in Colossians 4:2: “Continue in prayer,” he said. “Pray without ceasing,” he told his friends in Greece (1 Thessalonians 5:17).

I urge you to join me in praying for our country, for the new President and Congress, that God will lead and guide.

I encourage you to pray for your family this year with renewed fervency. Shirley and I will join you in praying for your unsaved loved ones especially.

I would ask you to pray for Total Living Network -- that God would provide the resources we need to carry on, and that He would help us do an even more effective job of ministering to you, and to multitudes of others, in 2009!

But most of all, we want to begin this New Year praying for YOU.

We’ve set aside January 29th 2009 to fast and pray for you at 7:30 p.m. Central Time. We will host a special on-air prayer service for you and your needs, whatever they may be -- physical, financial, relationships ... whatever
challenges you’re facing in life.

I hope you’ll use the enclosed form to write your needs and return them right away. I want to be sure you’re included in our TLN Day of Prayer.

And I would ask you to prayerfully consider enclosing a tax-deductible contribution of support for TLN.

You certainly do not have to give in order for us to pray for you -- of course not -- but we do depend on the faithful and generous support of friends like you in order to continue in ministry.

So as God enables you -- trusting Him as your Source, even in these difficult economic times -- please give as generously as you can. Thanks in advance.

I look forward to hearing from you soon. Prayer changes things -- because God answers prayer!

Prayerfully,

Jerry K. Rose

P.S. Let’s pray together with the faith of David in Psalm 17:6. “I call on you, O God, for you will answer me,” he prayed boldly; “give ear to me and hear my prayer.” That’s the faith I’m exercising on your behalf! Let’s see what God will do as we join together in faith believing!
