The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me because He anointed Me to proclaim the gospel to the poor. Luke 4:18 NASB
Dwight L. Moody was planning to launch an evangelistic campaign in England. During an initial planning meeting in London, an elderly pastor protested, "Why do we need Mr. Moody? We have many excellent preachers here in England. Moody is an uneducated and inexperienced American. Who does he think he is anyway? Does he think he has a monopoly on the Holy Spirit?" A younger, wiser pastor rose and responded, "No, but the Holy Spirit has a monopoly on Mr. Moody."
Does God have a monopoly on your life? Are you letting the Holy Spirit guide all of your life? Without the power of God, you'll never be able to get past Go in the game of life. Yield to Jesus. You might have God's Spirit, but does the Spirit have you?
POWER POINT: The world has not yet seen what God can do through a man totally yielded to Him. - D. L. Moody

My soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water. Psalm 63:1 NIV
An urbanite bought a small farm and two cows. Within a few weeks, his best cow had gone dry. The local vet came by to check out the complaint. He asked if the man was milking the cow every day. "Just about," said the owner. "I milk a pint a day then stop. I figure she'll just save up what I don't use." The vet explained, "With a cow you've got to take all there is, or eventually you will have nothing!"
Has your spiritual life been drying out? If you aren't thirsty for the things of God, don't be surprised if you run out of spiritual nourishment. Fellowship with God is satisfying if you seek Him regularly. Don't settle for a pint-size spiritual experience.
POWER POINT: Alas for those who never sing, but die with their music within them. -Oliver Wendell Holmes

Don't lag behind in diligence; be fervent in spirit, serving the Lord. Romans 12:11 NASB
Gustav was invited to become an apprentice of the local blacksmith. He learned how to use the tongs, lift the hammer, smite the anvil, and heat the coals to white-hot with the bellows. After completing his preliminary studies, Gustav was employed by the royal smithy. The young man was delighted to work for the king. Unfortunately, he was fired because he failed to learn how to kindle a spark!
Is your spirit hot for the Lord? You might have all the training and skills you need, but without a passion for ministry, you will not succeed. Spiritual enthusiasm is a powerful ingredient. Prepare your heart to serve the Lord. Ask the Spirit to provide the spark.
POWER POINT: Set yourself earnestly to discover what you are made to do, and then give yourself passionately to the doing of it. -Martin Luther King

God is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy. Jude 24 NKJV
A reporter once asked the ex-Yankee great, Yogi Berra, what he was going to do about the fact that he was in the middle of a batting slump. Yogi looked at the reporter with surprise and said, "Slump? I am not in no slump. I just ain't hitting."
Have you been struggling in your walk with God? Do you feel you're a spiritual failure? Don't get down on yourself. Spiritual setbacks are a normal and a temporary situation, not a permanent condition. "Not hitting" is a game-to-game struggle, and a "slump" lasts indefinitely. Keep going with your eyes on the Lord. He will not let you fail. Remember, "It's not over until it's over!"

Like newborn babies, crave the pure spiritual milk of the Word so by it you may grow up in your salvation. 1Peter 2:2 NIV
WWII American pilot, Jacob de Shazer, was shot down and captured by the Japanese. During imprisonment, he pondered why they hated him, and why he hated them. De Shazer, an atheist, recalled some of the things he had heard about Christianity. He asked his jailers to get him a Bible. A guard flung it at him, and said, "Three weeks, then I take away." Three weeks later, the guard took the Bible, and Jacob never saw it again. Three years after the end of the war, de Shazer, along with his wife and infant son, returned to Japan as missionaries. All this happened because he asked for a Bible. (H. Fickeet)

Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. Colossians 3:2-3 NASB
A migrating wild duck spied some domesticated ducks in a farmyard. He landed, mingled with them, and ate their corn. The safety of the farm, and the ample food supply, convinced the wild duck to stay all summer. In the fall, the duck heard the migrating flock overhead and wanted to fly off, but the added weight from over-eating kept him from distance flying. He stayed in the barnyard all winter. In spring, he heard the migrating flock returning. His eyes gleamed, but he made no effort. Thereafter, he paid no attention to the passing flocks at all.
Do you feel weighed down? Do pursuits of pleasure and affluence keep you from being airborne? Focusing too much on the world can ground you. Take a pre-flight check today. If you heard the Lord's call today, would you soar or sit?

Those who sow in tears shall reap with joyful shouting. Psalm 126:4 NIV
The gardener's compost pile was almost ready to use. For weeks, he collected grass clippings, eggshells, coffee grounds, and other organic matter in the compost bin. Occasionally, he turned the pile over to mix the ingredients. Gradually, the waste materials began to degrade and mix together. What began as a pile of garbage was now rich fertilizer for his plants.
What do you do with all of the 'garbage experiences' in your life? Don't hold on to them. Give them to Jesus. The Lord can take painful failures and memories and make something good from them. Healing may not happen overnight, but you can be sure God won't waste a hurt.

One thing I do know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see. John 9:25 NASB
A fifth grade teacher noticed a young boy couldn't read the chalkboard. The school nurse tested his vision. He was severely nearsighted. A few weeks later, he was sitting in the optometrist's office trying on his first pair of glasses. He hated how he looked, but walked out of the office and got really excited. He noticed the leaves on the trees, the smaller letters on signs, and the expressions on people's faces across the street. What used to be a blur was now a crisp reality. He could really see!
How does life look to you? Are destructive attitudes like unbelief and bitterness blurring your vision and making you miss the things God's Spirit is doing? If things aren't as clear as they used to be, ask the Lord to touch the eyes of your heart with His healing power. Soon things will be 20-20 again.

Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. Proverbs 31:29 NIV
As a child, John was the apple of his parents' eyes. During his teenage years, John's life became a mess. He dropped out of school and began hanging around with a rough crowd. One night, he staggered in drunk at 3:00 AM. His mother went to his room. Her husband got up to find her at their son's bedside, softly stroking his matted hair as he lay passed out drunk on the bed. "What are you doing?" he asked. She answered, "He won't let me love him when he's awake." (Michael Brown)
God made mothers with a special love for their children. Even at your worst, that love anchored your life. What a picture of the Father's love for you. Thank God for your Mother. Thank Mom for being there when you most needed love!

Holding to a form of religion, although they deny its power. 2 Timothy 3:5 NASB
I was driving to a meeting. I needed to make a few important phone calls, especially one to my boss, letting him know I would be a little late. No problem, I thought. I have my trusty cell phone. I waited as it rang. I heard a beeping sound for a few seconds and glanced at the phone's screen. My battery was dead. I had forgotten to recharge it. Now, all I had was a dead, useless phone in my hand. (Steve Klipowicz)
When was the last time you recharged your spiritual batteries? Living a Christian life without taking time for prayer and reading the Bible can drain you of spiritual vitality. Take time to plug into the Holy Spirit. You don't want a dead phone the next time you try to call the Boss.

Suddenly, he saw the flashing lights of a squad car. The pastor tried to explain his difficult morning to the policeman. The officer nodded and replied, "I used to have a lot of mornings like yours, but then I found the Lord!"

(Steve Klipowicz)
Have you been hearing squeaks lately? Don't ignore them. Annoying problems can be indicators that something needs attention in your life. Let the Lord show you what problems can be dealt with before they become serious. Listen to the Lord now, and you'll be glad you came in just in time.

Since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith. Hebrews 10:21-22 NASB
Hospital Chaplain, William Willimon, visited a woman who was terminally ill with cancer. She was raised in the church, but never accepted Christ until the last few months of her life. One day, Pastor Willimon saw her gasping for each breath and realized she was dying. She clutched a crucifix in her hand. He asked, "Would you like me to summon a priest for you?" With her last ounce of strength, the woman held out the crucifix and said, "Thank you, but I have a Priest."

Almost immediately, British forces turned around and withdrew, not knowing the Turks had only sixty seconds of ammunition remaining and were about to surrender. Had the British forces persisted, they would have captured the strategic Dardanelles, split the enemy forces, and shortened World War I by several years.

Seek and you shall find Matthew 7:7 KJV
"Ready, set...GO!" Caleb and his cousins began frantically scurrying about the yard looking for the brightly colored plastic eggs filled with jellybeans and chocolate. A few eggs were cleverly concealed in drainpipes, in the trees, or partially buried in the mulch. The kids had to look hard to find the last remaining treasures. (Steve Klipowicz)
Many of God's blessings come easily to a child of God. Some require patient faith and persistence. Don't give up seeking what you need from the Lord. His Word states that if you keep seeking, you will find what He provides. God can't lie; so let His promises egg your faith on.
