Who could have guessed that just a few months ago our nation and the world would be held hostage by a virus we hadn’t even heard of at the first of the year. And, in the midst of it, job losses, protests, rioting and violence ensued. Stress comes at us in many forms and over the past few months, it has come from all directions in rapid succession. Economic side effects, shelter in place, pent up emotions and energies all led to overall unrest that is continuing to influence all that we do.
TLN has been right here providing relevant programming through all of it. TLN aired daily COVID-19 specials for over 3 straight months, then worked to address racial disparity through The Breaking Point and Just Us specials which were also picked up by other stations. God is moving and we are part of it. That’s why our behind the scenes work over the past months with Bob Moeller to return an updated version of Marriage: For Better For Worse to TLN could not have come at a better time.
And, isn’t God’s timing always the best. Just as the program becomes ready for air – a program designed to strengthen marriage – we hear the reports on how marriages are being negatively affected by the events of the day. Covid-19 is not only creating a major physical health crisis but another major crisis…..a surge of divorce could well be on its way.
Divorce filings are skyrocketing from quarantine-weary and financially stressed couples according to top matrimonial *
“Virtual divorce,” enabled by technology, is trending as couples sheltered-at-home and re-evaluated their lives and **
And we’ve learned of wedding plans that have been put on hold because of restrictions on large gatherings, and those conditions have taken their toll. Marriage: For Better For Worse offers such great information about relationships – solid principals for couples headed into marriage. As Christians we must do everything we can to protect and preserve strong biblically-based relationships, marriages and our family.
That is why I’m excited to partner again with Rev. Bob Moeller, host of Marriage: For Better For Worse. Bob has a special gift of ministry for marital relationships and countless troubled marriages, some seemingly hopeless, have been restored as a result of his counsel. There are other marriage programs on TV, but few with the deep spiritual insights Bob brings regarding marital relationships.
Marriage: For Better For Worse helped heal so many marriages and saved people like Christine from deep depression in its earlier seasons. Over 14 years ago, it saved her life as she flipped through the channels one night and discovered the program while suicidal over a failed relationship. Now Christine helps others who suffer from depression. Imagine how many more lives could be saved because we have joined together once again: Rev. Bob Moeller, TLN and YOU.
Obviously, adding Marriage for Better For Worse to our program schedule at a time our budget is already strained is a challenge, but one we believe we must accept. I’m sure you agree – it’s too important to do otherwise.
We’re asking you, as a valued ministry friend and partner, to accept the challenge with us. We are currently operating at a budget shortfall and need you to come alongside us with your most generous gift. Perhaps you could give a gift of $50, $100, $200 or even $500 this month to help underwrite Marriage: For Better For Worse on TLN.
TLN is Total Living for Total Life: Spirit/Mind/Body. Rev. Bob Moeller is doing his part by committing his ministry to restoring relationships and saving marriages – total living for total life. And we here at TLN are doing all we can by seeing to it that his ministry reaches as many people as possible. Please pray about what you can do as you consider your gift thismonth. Thank you for being a part of the TLN family. My prayer is that TLN will be a continuous source of blessing to you and your family.
A Note From Our President – Whose Boat Are You On?
Just when we thought our circumstances could not get more complicated, they have become even more complex. Storms keep on coming. We hold on in the eye of one storm when yet another rages. There’s temptation to believe there is no hope, but GOD……
Over the past few months, Christ followers who I consider leaders in these most trying days did not give up hope. Happy to be among the living are Pastors Tarver, Coffield and Sheridan who shared on TLN that they feel a new purpose, even a second chance to follow Christ wholeheartedly after surviving COVID-19. (Their stories are available on TLN’s new YouTube Channel: Total Living Network). During this crisis, people have rededicated their lives to Christ or accepted Him for the first time. What is God saying to you?
We know that He speaks through TLN’s programs and the expanded number of video platforms He’s provided to share our message. TLN is committed to using our voice and platforms for honest dialogue to move forward in justice, unity, and a better reflection of God’s love in these tumultuous days. In prayerful response to what our country is experiencing in terms of racial justice, we’re pleased to offer our friend, Tony Evans’ book, Oneness Embraced: Reconciliation, The Kingdom and How We are Stronger Together for any donation of $25 or more. And be sure to catch Tony Evans’ program on TLN: The Urban Alternative on Sundays at 6:00pm.
TLN added an array of additional content to encourage viewers 24/7. And now we’ve added brand new episodes of Marriage: For Better For Worse with Pastor Bob Moeller to help heal relationships torn apart over these past months.
Jerry spoke of our dear sister in Christ, Christine. I had the opportunity many years ago to spend time with her. She had planned to end her life, but happened to tune in to TLNWest AT THAT VERY TIME. Something Dr. Moeller said in that moment described her pain and she chose life! I will never forget the peace and joy I saw in her eyes in her living room during the interview and she has used her own healing to help others. I’m so grateful that Marriage: For Better For Worse is back on our air and this time it will be available across the globe largely because of faithful partners like you.
It’s true; we’re living in unprecedented times, a new historical dot on mankind’s timeline, still in the midst of unsteady waters with land not yet in site. But, we are not alone. Mark 4:39 talks about Jesus when He was in a storm with people He cherished. Passengers in the boat became afraid. That is, until they called upon Jesus to calm the waters. He spoke and the winds ceased. I can’t predict when our winds will cease. But the same Jesus who will calm these current seas in His time, is ready to speak peace and strength of purpose into the lives of all who will seek Him. I guess the question is, whose boat are we in? With Jesus at the helm, we can hold on and bring others to shore with us.
Whose boat are you in? Are you called to purpose beyond your own circumstances? Are you called to join TLN in bringing people into the knowledge of the saving grace of Jesus Christ? God is keeping our ministry afloat. Will you help steady the sail until Jesus calms the storms? We absolutely need YOU to help navigate through so that people whodesperately need Christ can find Him through TLN (www.tln.com/donate).
