In 2014, 15-year-old Demario Bailey was shot and killed during a robbery while trying to protect his identical twin brother. He would have been 16 in three days. That day his mother, Delores, went through what no parent should ever have to—losing a child to street violence. And she’s just one of many.
But Delores found strength in her faith. She joined Pastor John Hannah for “Prayer on the 9” along violence-plagued East 79th Street, to join others covering 42 blocks in prayer against the anger and violence claiming young lives. “Prayer on the 9” is a call-to-action for the community to pray and gather as one body, one city against violence of any kind.
This year, TLN was there—standing together with Pastor Hannah, PRAY CHICAGO and hundreds of local residents in a show of unity to take back these neighborhoods and stop the killing. We are committed to joining ministries being the “hands and feet of Jesus,” telling their story through media so our viewers can add their support and prayers to those living in these violent neighborhoods for God’s grace and power to restore lives and bring peace to these families.
Your gift of $35, $50, $100 or more this month will help TLN continue to partner with these ministries and be on the scene to unite the body of Christ in fervent prayer for our communities, families and particularly young lives affected by violence—especially during the summer months! Jesus came to bring LIFE—and how desperately our cities need His healing! God bless you.
